Climate Change body gets $85m World Bank funding

THE Zambia Climate Change Network (ZCCN) has received about US$85 million from the World Bank to facilitate the implementation of a climate resilience pilot programme in Zambia. ZCCN chairperson Noah Zimba disclosed this in Lusaka during civil society post COP 17 report back workshop. Mr Zimba said Zambia was already experiencing climate change effects through unprecedented floods and droughts with erratic rainfall which has greatly affected all economic sectors. . .

FRA secures K198 billion loan to pay farmers

THE Food Reserve Agency has secured a K198 billion loan from a local commercial bank to clear outstanding payments to farmers who supplied maize to the agency in five provinces. The farmers are in Eastern, Northern, Muchinga, Southern and some parts of Central Province. .


LuSE expresses interest in agri-commodity exchange
31st January, 2012
THE Zambia Agricultural Commodity Exchange (ZAMACE) has revealed that the Lusaka Stock Exchange (LuSE) has expressed interest in the commodities exchange. ZAMACE suspended trading activity in August 2011 to pave way for a process of demutualisation, which is the delinking of shareholding from brokerage ownership. .
